The bible, old and new testaments mention various crystals for different applications, and as early as Exodus, we read about the High Priests special clothes, one of which held 12 stones that represented the 12 tribes of the Children of Israel.

Stones have been a focal point for mankind well before the bible, and are endowed with mystical properties due to their colors, brilliance, and rarity. In this article I will present to you 18 of the crystals mentioned in the bible, and what mystical powers are attributed to them, as handed down through the ages.

  • Sapphire

The blue sapphire is a very rare gemstone and is attributed to the throat chakra. This stone symbolizes power and gives its bearer courage. It is also known as the stone of truth.

There are a few sources of sapphire mentioned in the Bible, specifically the old testament, one of those sources is Lamentations 4:7 “Her princes were purer than snow, whiter than milk; their bodies were ruddier than coral, the beauty of their form was like sapphire.”

  • Ruby

This red gemstone is the heart chakra, and its deep red color has enticed the belief in its power over love. This stone is related to the heart, and it is considered to be good for fertility and seekers of love.

One of the sources is Proverbs 8:11 “For wisdom is better than rubies, and all that you may desire cannot compare with her.”

  • Topaz

Topaz comes in many colors and is considered to be a universal stone that activates many chakras. This crystal is considered to be a higher power crystal, and it has some famous ancient counterparts, as we read in the following book.

Job 28:19” The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it, nor can it be valued in pure gold.”

  • Carnelian

The carnelian is associated with the root chakra and is linked to life force energy. This crystal is considered to give its wearer or bearer control and balance.

This is one of the high priest’s breastplate stones, as mentioned in Exodus 28:17 “Place a setting of gemstones on it, four rows of stones: The first stone of the first row should be a carnelian.”

  • Chrysolite

This lesser-known stone is similar to Sapphire and is associated with Luck. This stone is also considered to be a wisdom stone that helps you gain courage. It was mentioned in Song of Solomon 5:14 “His hands gold rings, set with the chrysolite; His belly is bright ivory, overlaid with sapphires. “

  • Beryl

This stone is associated with love, in fact, it is considered to be the ultimate love stone and is best used for people going through troubled times. Beryl has been used in many applications of man through time, and in the bible, it is mentioned in Exodus 39:6 “Then they made the beryl stones, fixed in twisted frames of gold and cut like the cutting of a stamp, with the names of the children of Israel.”

  • Sardonyx

Sardonyx is considered to be one of the most protective stones and is associated with the moon. It works together with the earth, and the root chakra’s empowering them both. Sardonyx is a blend of onyx, chalcedony, and carnelian. This stone is mentioned in Revelations 21:20 “As for the foundation-stones of the city wall, the fifth is sardonyx.”

  • Chalcedony

Chalcedony is another gem that is both abundant and in many colors. This stone activates the sacral and solar plexus chakras. It is also considered responsible for empowering the bodies kundalini energy. This is why Chalcedony is thought to be a healing crystal. It is mentioned in Revelations 21:19 “As for the foundation-stones of the city wall, the third is chalcedony.

  • Chrysoprase

Chrysoprase is another heart chakra stone used for balancing emotions and helping you find inner peace. This stone is mentioned in Revelations 21:21 “As for the foundation-stones of the city wall, the tenth is chrysoprase.”

  • Jacinth

Jacinth is considered to be one of the foundation stones of the city of Jerusalem and is a key reiki healing stone. Jacinth activates ethereal chakras and the crown chakra which is used for people seeking enlightenment. It is mentioned in Revelation 21:21 “As for the foundation-stones of the city wall, the eleventh is jacinth.”

  • Amethyst

Amethyst is perhaps one of the most powerful crystals mentioned in the Bible and is considered sacred worldwide. This amazing purple stone is mentioned a number of times in the Bible and is considered to be on of the stones that are found in the walls of heaven. Jasper is mentioned Revelation 4:3 “And he that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and there was a rainbow round about the throne, in sight like unto an emerald.”

This is one of the most controversial stones in history; its beauty is defined by the brilliance of the blue and gold that combine to create a mesmerizing pattern of beauty. Corals are also mentioned in Lamentations 4:7 “Her consecrated ones were purer than snow, They were whiter than milk; They were more ruddy in body than corals.”
