Your skin is your most visible organ so naturally, you want it to stay healthy and glowing. Unfortunately, the kind of environment most of us live in these day makes it impossible for it to stay that way. The UV rays from the sun, smoke, dust, and everything combined attacks our exposed skin and makes it dull and lifeless.
Fortunately, it doesn’t have to stay that way. If you take good care of your skin then it will re-assume its former glow and you will look absolutely radiant. You don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on expensive skincare products either (If you want to, that’s absolutely fine though!) because Mother Nature has provided us with natural ingredients that will work pretty much as well as any product you can take off the shelves. And it will be absolutely free of chemicals too!
Gram Flour and Turmeric
My absolute favorite mask for glowing skin is the gram flour and turmeric mask. Gram flour absorbs excessive oil from your skin and the turmeric gives you this amazing glow that seems like it’s radiating from within you. Seriously, nothing makes you glow like turmeric does!
All you have to do is mix a teaspoon of gram flour with half a teaspoon of turmeric, add milk to the mixture until it forms a thick paste and apply it to your face and neck. Take it off after 25-20 minutes or when it dries.
This mask can be a little tricky to take off, so wet your face and rub your face and neck till the mask becomes more liquid and starts to come off, then wash it all off with your face wash and warm water.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is like the holy grail of skin products. Every time I see a product with aloe vera in it, I immediately get taken with it. This is probably not a good practice but aloe vera is everything to skincare.
The best kind of aloe vera you can apply is the fresh kind. Take a large leaf of aloe vera, slice it in half along the vertical plane, and scrape off the gel with a knife or spoon. Apply it immediately by itself or put it in a DIY face mask. You can store the remaining gel in your refrigerator for about a week.
If you cannot find fresh aloe vera near you, the store-bought kind is fine, but it is never 100% pure!
Honey
Honey is another excellent ingredient to use in your skincare regime for glowing skin. It is rich in antioxidants which remove blemishes and wrinkles from your face and give it a beautiful glow. Honey is also great for imparting a pinkish color to your lips so you look the prettiest you possibly can!
You can massage honey on your face directly every day for a few minutes, or you can make a honey and yogurt mask to do the deed for you. Simply mix a teaspoon of honey with a teaspoon of yogurt, combine the two and apply to your face. Take it off after 15-20 minutes or when it dries.
Milk
Milk is also super effective for glowing, radiant skin. In fact, applying milk-based remedies on your skin is one of the oldest remedies there are for beautiful, glowing skin. And many people are drawn toward goat milk for this purpose.
If you cannot find goat’s milk, you can simply use raw, fresh milk instead. Massage it on your face as a cleanser and wash it off. You can also make an amazing DIY mask using by combining milk with honey. Mix the two ingredients together and make sure the consistency is thick enough that it applies on your face readily. When it dries, wash it off with warm water.
It is a safe and natural bleaching method for privates as well.
Rosewater and Almonds
Rosewater has amazing properties that help your skin look absolutely gorgeous. Organic rosewater is also a very inexpensive product so you should have absolutely no trouble getting it from any supermarket. Rosewater is an anti-inflammatory agent, along with that it is also great for controlling excessive oil from the skin and deep cleaning your pores.
Almonds, on the other hand, are full of anti-oxidants that remove the free radicals on your face, prevent wrinkles and blemishes. They also contain vitamins that make your skin look fantastic.
Combine almond powder with rosewater to make a thick paste which can prove to be one of the best face masks you can make at home.
Saffron Mask
Saffron masks are another favorite of mine but saffron is so expensive, and real saffron is not easy to come by so I use this one somewhat sparingly!
My two favorite masks include using either milk or honey with saffron.
For the first, take a few strands of saffron and place them in a quarter cup of warm milk. You will notice after 20 minutes or so that the milk has a yellow tint to it. Apply the milk to your face, make sure you take some of the saffron strands with it, wait for it to dry and wash it off.
For the second mask, you want to place a few strands of saffron in some honey and mix it up. Leave it be for twenty minutes or so and then apply the mask on your face. Wash it off when it dries.
Both masks are absolutely fantastic for helping your skin look radiant and bright. Saffron is highly potent with antioxidants, which is why it helps so much with glowing skin.
Lemon
This is a very easy remedy and you will see very quick results with it too. Simply cut a slice of lemon in half, rub one half on your face, wait for it to dry, then repeat. Repeat the application as the previous one dries off as many times ass you wish. Then wash it off with warm water.
Lemon has bleaching properties, and it is very astringent too. So it leaves your skin looking bright, and it absorbs excess oil on your face that makes your skin look dull.
Using lemon as a skin care agent is not for people with sensitive skin. Do a patch test first, and immediately wash it off if your skin starts burning too much.
Tomato
Tomato is a less harsh version of the lemon when it comes to skincare. It makes your skin glow and also removes any signs of acne and acne scars on your skin.
Simply take a whole tomato and cut it in quarters. Rub one quarter on your face, wait for it to dry then rub the next one on. Wash it off when it dries completely.
You can also use tomato juice as an effective daily cleanser.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is the best remedy for people with dull skin due to blackheads. Mix baking soda with water till it forms a thick paste, apply on your face and remove when it dries completely.
Green Tea
Green tea is another excellent agent that is full of antioxidants which brighten up your skin and remove signs of aging. My personal favorite use of green tea is as a toner or a facial mist, but you can simply rub soaked bags of green tea on your face as a really effective skin-brightening technique too!
