What is distilled water and what is the process of distilling water? When you boil water in one container and then cool the water vapors obtained in another clean container, the water collected in the clean container is free from bio, minerals and salt impurities is called distilled water. Besides drinking, there are many other uses of distilled water. It can be used in car batteries,  steam irons, and CPAP machines, etc. A cool domestic use of distilled water is to make clear ice cubes. By the way, you can read more about distillers here https://wisepick.org/best-water-distiller/

You will need following things to make distilled water:

Distilled Water Apparatus
Distilled Water Apparatus

Source

1. A round bottom flask: For boiling water.
2. A fractionating column: For collecting water vapor.
3. Condenser: For cooling.
4. Clean Container or Flask: For the collection of distilled water.
5. Heat source: gas or electric

How to make distilled water? The Process:
It is a very simple process. You have to arrange all the apparatus as shown in the image above. We start by adding water to the round flask. Recommended quantity will be less than 3/4th of the container. As too much water in round flask would lead to the failure of the process. Place a heating source under the container. Start heating the water we have added to the round flask. By heating the water, water vapors will start to form as it starts boiling. Now, you can either run cool water through the condenser or wrap it with ice packs. Our purpose for doing this is to cool down the water vapor which is coming out of the round flask and into the fraction column which we have attached to the round flask. As the water vapor cools down, you will see the water droplets collecting into the clean container which we have placed at the end of the fraction column. This water which is being collected into the clean container or flask is distilled water.

Safety: Please don’t touch the round bottom flask or fraction column while in or some time after this process as it may result in heat injury. And please be very careful while using the heat source, don’t forget to shut it off after the process is completed.
